Home Improvement Programs
The Owner-Occupied
Home Improvement Program is a
much-needed home rehabilitation tool in the Center City Area of Niagara Falls,
New York. In our neighborhood, many
families have restrictive incomes and cannot make needed improvements to their
homes without financial assistance. The
majority of our structures were built prior to 1960 and therefore differ from
today's standards and most of the homes have the original components. HIP is designed to provide an affordable
means by which very low and low income home owners can correct serious code
violations in their homes and improve the structures. This program was designed to offer an
affordable means for existing homeowners to stay homeowners in our
neighborhood. Funding is secured through
competitive grant funding rounds from the NYS Affordable Housing Corporation,
the City of Niagara Falls and NYS Division of Housing & Community Renewal.
